This painting could be the most concise work I've done embodying everything that made the Western Maryland a large
part of my output, all executed in a small format with a relatively simple composition. The matched set of washed
and shined locomotives, the well-engineered and maintained line cutting through the Blue Ridge, and a few speed
lettered Western Maryland boxcars are all typical and emblematic of how the WM did it. This is one of the line's
"Alpha Jets," a train that gave priority rapid service to shippers, upholding the road's motto of being "the fast
freight line."
