This limited edition print by noted Ohio artist Nancy Tritt Bruns
depicts a circa 1900 view of the impressive B Street Arches that pass over the Great Miami River and B Street in
Hamiliton, Ohio. Atop the bridge a pair of Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton Railroad Ten-Wheeler (4-6-0) locomotives
haul a trainload of machinery bound for Japan from the Black Clawson Company.
The 17-arch railroad bridge is 665 feet long and was built of Dayton stone, It crosses three streets at the tops
of the houses. The Butler County Courthouse, Presbyterian Church, Zion Lutheran Church, First St. John United
Church of Christ, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, form the background. These architectural marvels were designed
by Hamilton native, John S. Earhart, who died during Civil War service. The Arches, built in 1850 when the railroad
came to Hamilton, begin on the west side from the river's edge, and continue to C Street. In the 1890s, Dr. Henry
Mallory wrote about the Arches in a published book of reminiscences, "This beautiful monument should be the pride
of every man, woman, and child in Hamilton, where it should stand for a thousand years."
A certificate of authenticity is included with each signed and numbered print. When 2½" double matting is added,
prints fit perfectly into a standard 24" x 30" frame.
