The George at Williamsburg

The Colonial Capitol of Williamsburg, Virginia, is not only a major tourist destination, and almost in my backyard,
but hosts the mainline of the C&O, now CSX, railroad, with much coal traffic heading to the docks at Newport News
for export. It is always a pleasant place to visit for the restored historic area and the train station, and to
witness passing trains. I've done this often over the years, and have seen the changes that took place in the
locomotives rostered by the railroad. Many years ago, the George Washington, C&O's premier passenger train,
made the run from the west, through central Virginia, and split into two sections, one going to Washington, DC, and
the other section to Newport News. This scene shows the eastbound Newport News section, during a stop at the
Williamsburg depot. While the train, and the marvelously painted E8 passenger locomotives, are gone, the station
itself has been restored and looks nearly identical to how it appeared back in the 1950s.
