Up and Down Horseshoe
by Andrew Harmantas
Oil on linen canvas on braced birch panel
Original Painting Image size 18" x 24" Framed size 20" x 26" (narrow profile solid honey oak gallery frame)
Horseshoe Curve, just west of Altoona, Pennsylvania, is a great place to watch big time railroading. This is one in a series of paintings I've been working on,
showing the Curve at different times of the year, and through different eras, chronicling the many times I've visited there to take in the scene. In this painting,
steam is long gone, and the Pennsy is still operating under its own keystone symbol, showing how it's done — moving large amounts of tonnage up and across
the Eastern Divide. The deep cold and overcast weather does little to diminish the excitement of two trains passing each other, going up, and down the curve.
Price: $700 (includes US shipping)
